Meet author Blythe Stanfel. Blythe will be my guest this Saturday, April 5th to discuss her book, Out of the Pocket.

About the book:

Out of the Pocket is about a young man on an odyssey during his senior year of high school.  Mercer Murray eats, sleeps, and dreams football.  Yet, his goal of playing at the University of Iowa seems unattainable with his father, who happens to be his head coach, fighting in the Iraq War.  Mercer, whose slightly sarcastic voice masks his shyness with girls, struggles to see life outside of football. As he learns to manage without his dad, Mercer also learns about the life of a typical Iraqi teenager through e-mails with Ahmed, a young translator for Mercer's father, who starts a correspondence with Mercer.  Mercer provides support as Ahmed struggles to provide food and protection for his family, and Ahmed helps Mercer cope with high school drama.

About the author:

I currently live in Des Moines, Iowa, with my husband and three children.  I am a proud stay-at-home mom, and I am also an adjunct instructor of American Literature and Humanities at William Penn University.  I have been writing for about fourteen years.  My passions are loving God, loving my family, and teaching.
