The Perfect Holiday (2007) was a funny movie that is good for everyone in the house, including the children. Gabrielle Union is a great actress who has impeccable comedic timing, even though she is a film actress and not a comedian. Faizon Love is his usual funny and witty self. Katt Williams is my boy and although his comedic style was watered down tremendously, he just proved that he's a naturally funny guy! However, if you're going to the movies to see the stand-up comedian Katt Williams with the pimp flair, you're going to be greatly disappointed because that character is not written into the script. Also, I really didn't understand what real purpose Queen Latifah (Mrs. Christmas) and Terrence Howard's (Bah Humbug) characters played in the movie. For the most part, their scenes could be considered as "COMIC RELIEF", but, in all actuality, they could have been cut out and it would not have affected the flow of the movie or its storyline. I was also extremely surprised to see Terrence Howard in such an underwritten role after all of his strong roles and blockbuster hits. Jill Marie Jones and Rachel True did a great job as Gabrielle Union's girlfriends. The children all did a wonderful job including Khail Bryant who played the youngest and the babygirl, Emily! I think that this might have been her breakout role! The cutest little thing that you ever want to lay your eyes on and a very good little actress. I am looking to see more of her. Um, the jury is still out on Charles Q. Murphy's performance. Let's just say, if his character who was supposed to be a star was actually "supposed" to be untalented and a terrible performer overall, then he did an excellent job. At any rate, the movie is basically about true love and being yourself. Not a powerful statement, but, a statement, nonetheless. I give it 3 1/2 Stars.
