Bevon joins Roger to discuss the current climate in Guyana from perspective of a youth advocate.
Bevon Currie is a youth advocate, youth leader, social commentator and community activist from East Coast Demerara, Guyana. His outstanding leadership earned his a place as a youth representative for Guyana and the Caribbean to several regional and International youth forums. He led the Guyana Youth Delegation to the 5th Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago in 2009 and the Caribbean Delegation to the 15th Conference of Parties (COP 15) in Denmark the same year. He served at the highest leadership levels of several youth organisations and NGOs in Guyana and the Caribbean. Mr. Currie presently serves as the National Coordinator of CYEN Guyana since 2009 and the Caribbean youth representative to the Organization of American States. He is one of the Founder of the National Youth Development Network and presently serves as its Secretary. Mr. Currie is a graduate from the University of Guyana. He is a Project Management Consultant and Micro Enterprise Development specialist. He is currently the Program Manager at the Guyana Volunteer Consultancy Inc and a part time lecturer in Mathematics and Small Business Development. He is a Training Facilitator for the Organisation of American States YABT programme. He is also a serving member of the Board of Trustees of the Guyana NGO Forum. Mr. Currie developed a passion for youth development as a student in the late 1980s. Since then he have initiated, coordinated and participates in several youth development programmes and projects at the local and regional level. He is an avid reader, keen sports man who participated competitively in basketball at a National Level, an outstanding debater who loves nature, traveling, meeting people and conducting research. He is an ardent believer and advocate for human development through capacity building.
