You’ve reached your limit and frankly you don’t even care anymore what happens. Well, what does happen next? Based on 22 years of listening to people’s experience I can tell you that the world doesn’t end. You don’t get fired, nor do you lose a friend. Quite the contrary – things get better. Communication happens, priorities are discussed, misunderstandings are cleared up and solutions are created. People tell me that their biggest regret is that they hadn’t spoken up a lot earlier. “No” is the new “yes” because it starts a different conversation. If you want to be able to say no, the first thing to do is to evaluate the real risks of saying “no” against the risks of saying “yes”. Are there risks to saying “no” or negotiating a demand on our time? Doug Heidebrecht specializes in helping busy people manage priorities and workloads. He’s a “real world” coach, consultant and facilitator who thrives on provoking individuals and teams into discovering a better way to work and a better way to live. He helps his clients do more with less, stay engaged and achieve better balance by raising the bar in how they make choices, have courageous conversations and achieve laser focus. Doug brings to the table an ability to respectfully and thoughtfully provide his clients with a fresh perspective and new ways of thinking. His authenticity and down to earth professionalism with clients creates a high comfort level and fosters real conversations about real issues. It focuses on the psychological, lifestyle and transition issues in developing a vision of retirement. Although there is a financial component to the program it is not the primary element.  Our business model is strictly education and training. We do not sell financial products and we do not give advice. Our market is companies and unions both in Canada and the United States. We offer a workshop program as well as an Online version. Workshops are the primary delivery system but companies that contract our services sometime ask us to take a senior manager through the program using a one on one (with partner) coaching format. In his previous life Av was in the life insurance industry for 28 years and steadily progressed “up the ladder” to senior positions with national responsibility for sales, marketing and distribution. But when it is done in a language and culture that you did not grow up in, many aspects intrude to complicate the message. The pronunciation of individual sounds, how we put words together and stress them, how we time our responses and what expression we show on our face, how close we stand and how we gesticulate -- all of these things and more can confuse the communication. And the unfortunate thing is that people judge others by evaluating through their cultural lens with little or no awareness of how one's native culture and language influence their communication in other environments. In this interview, Heather Chetwynd will discuss a variety of aspects which can lead to misinterpretation on all sides. Whether you were born and raised in this multicultural environment or not, this interview will open your eyes to many factors which can cause you to read the intentions of others incorrectly. Heather helps internationally educated professionals reach their full potential by fine-tuning their language abilities. With a specialty in accent modification and intercultural communication, she helps her clients develop confidence in the Canadian business environment and communicate more effectively. Drawing on 25 years experience in the field of adult education, culture and English as a Second Language (ESL), Heather’s experience includes teaching and assessing all levels and subjects of ESL, leading professional development seminars and developing educational materials. Why is there such a difference from one person to the next?  According to Geoff Weinstein, “some people have been trained on the art of influence, and others have not”. Influential communication is about three things: TRUST, PASSION, and LOGIC. If you’re able to get all three elements into the right balance, people will cooperate with you…willingly. This skill is a huge advantage in our high-tech world, where people are busier and more distracted than at any time in human history.  Geoff Weinstein is the owner of his own communications company, which he founded in 2006 after spending almost ten years in training and communication management at TD Bank.  Geoff has a deep passion for communication and ‘ethical’ persuasion. Geoff has led hundreds of workshops and private coaching sessions and learned that most of his participants share the same concerns: 1) They waste too much time communicating; and 2) They don’t really know how to get people to take action. In his sessions, participants learn how to be more influential, while slashing the amount of time they spend communicating.  Geoff is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators and sits on the board of directors for International Needs Canada, a Christian charity that helps at-risk children around the world. He lives in Burlington, Ontario with his wife, Leann, and three young children. 00:30:00Athena Alliance Radionocommunication, trust, learning, personal development, leadershipHave you ever noticed that some people communicate so well they could inspire anyone to do anything, while others struggle just to express a basic thought? He has also facilitated the York Technology Association’s Sales Peer Group for the last 6 years. Traditional Solution Selling models are under pressure.  Buyers no longer depend on salespeople to bring them solutions; they can research most of what a traditional salesperson used to tell them on their own.  As a result buyers have little patience for the long winded solution selling needs analysis conversations of the past; they have done their own needs analysis before the salesperson shows up.  In today’s sales environment the salesperson has to add value to the customer’s thinking fast.  If the customer is in the evaluation stage the salesperson needs to first be equal and then differentiate early in the cycle.  If the Salesperson is triggering an interest in change they need to be credible, relevant, and disruptive of the status quo right out of the gate.  Most sales training has not responded to these new circumstances, and it is leading to a lot of frustration for managers and business leaders.   00:30:00Athena Alliance RadionoSales, leadership, personal development, sales performance, training and developmentAndrew is a Sales Performance Management expert with proven success at building high performing sales teams.  He has a reputation for making a lasting impact oMastering Your IT Factor with Dorothy Lazovikhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/athena-alliance-radio/2012/10/29/matering-your-it-factorEducationhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/athena-alliance-radio/2012/10/29/matering-your-it-factor/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/athena-alliance-radio/2012/10/29/matering-your-it-factorMon, 29 Oct 2012 16:00:00 GMTMastering Your IT Factor with Dorothy LazovikMastering Your IT Factor ~ What is IT that makes you stand out?  It is essential to know as a leader what makes you tick, what drives your decisions and how you want to be seen.
