When Darren and Amanda's oldest son Derby was diagnosed with autism 4 years ago, their only point of reference was a movie about an autistic savant. They felt alone with the diagnosis and completely ignorant as to how it would change their lives. The first action Amanda took was tojoin a support group for families, and she considers it the best decision she ever made. Darren and Amanda McNulty have 3 children, Derby is 8, Molly is 6 and Hayden is 5. Derby is diagnosed with autism and Hayden is diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. Darren is a stay at home dad and Amanda works full time outside of the home. They are very passionate about raising awareness for autism and both volunteer tirelessly with their local Chapter of Autism Ontario, Canada where Amanda has been Chapter President for the past 2 years. They now believe that a diagnosis of autism for your child is not something to grieve but something to embrace and cherish. They want to share their outlook with other parents of newly diagnosed children in hopes of helping families through an overwhelming time.
