Every day it seems there are new stories of cat or animal hoarding in the news. You know the cases: The ones where dozens of cats are being housed in terrible living situations, being neglected and abused, and eventually seized by local or federal officials. In this broadcast of Ask The Cat Doctor Talk Radio, we discuss this form of animal abuse and neglect, what drives it, and much more.

To help us understand WHY people hoard animals, Dr. Karen Cassiday, board member at both the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and Beyond OCD Chicago and faculty at the International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation Behavior Therapy Institute and at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, joins us to share her expertise. Dr. Cassiday received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1990 from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and is nationally recognized as an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety disorders in children, teens and adults. You've seen her on Animal Planet, TODAY, and more.

We also talk about some things that have been in the news recently and how they apply to your cats! And as always, we take your questions, whether on this topic or any other topic, since no question is too big or too small! Cat talk radio with feline veterinarian Dr. Shelby Neely is the place to learn everything you could ever want to know about cats. Join us every Sunday and Wednesday and now on Fridays and call or write in with your own personal cat questions at http://www.askthecatdoctor.com/cat-talk.html .
