Today I'm going to answer the question: does correcting your posture help with chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a painful, exhausting and life-consuming condition and there
are not a lot of answers for people who have this and other kinds of chronic pain.
In fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions, the body becomes hypersensitive. For example, as you're watching this video you're not thinking or feeling your left knee. Why? because one of the biggest things that the brain does is turn off or inhibit a lot of the info coming in.This is a good thing. Imagine being aware of everything touching your skin, everything around you, every smell, imagine experiencing every possible sensation every moment of every day. That might not be a perfect example, but that's kinda what fibromyalgia is like. They feel things that the rest of us just don't.

What does this have to do with posture? The part of our brain that keeps our head erect is the same part of the brain that inhibits pain and other sensations. When we do things to improve posture we improve the body's ability to inhibit pain and thus improve fibromyalgia and chronic pain.

Thanks for listening.
