Mr. Berg has over nineteen years of experience in the art community, specializing in pastels and figurative work. Originally a native of Wisconsin, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in history and literature. With the intentions of becoming a writer, he then moved to New York. About four years later, after no signs of publishing success, Mr. Berg moved upstate to bask in the life of voluntary simplicity. Over time, Kimberly became disenchanted with the publishing world, and more fascinated with visual art.
As an artist, he wishes to create a visual experience that lays the groundwork for a change in attitude. After reading the book, “When Drummers Were Women,” by Layne Redmond, it helped him to look at the mistreatment of women by men, from a broad historical perspective, and made him realize just how horrendous patriarchy really is, and has been for thousands of years. This is what motivated Kimberly Berg to create ISIS RISING (http://www.isisrising.net), an attempt to balance societal views of inferiority of women, using art imagery, poetry and book reviews.
