Virginia began her career in artistry after spending six months in Italy studying art history. Based out of Greenville, NY, Virginia has been painting landscapes since she retired from medical illustration in 1997.
In the 1980’s, Virginia was an Adjunct Associate Professor at Long Island University, where she taught the course, “Introduction to Medical Illustration.” Then in the early 1990’s, she completed two texts: Troutman’s Third Volume on “Cornmeal Astigmatism,” and the Revised Byron Smith text, “Ophthalmic and Reconstructive Surgery.” Both texts required up to 1500 illustrations each and consumed 4 years of Virginia’s career.
