They were known only as the Quartermaster, the Strategist, the Communicator, the Technician, and the Centurion. Each proficient in their respective disciplines; each ready to sacrifice himself for the success of the mission. They needed a place to work on their formulation. It was never quite correct. There was always something that didn’t perform as anticipated. But what was it? Were the proportions wrong? The voltage? On the 6th night, a full moon cast long shadows in the Valley of Dissonance and a figure appeared on the horizon. It moved closer and closer until it happened right upon the Company. It was a wayward Alchemist, drawn by the same inner calling that beckoned to the Company from the depths of their souls. The Alchemist showed the company to his laboratory. It was there and only there the men found solace and harmony. They experimented with varying quantities of known and unknown tones and re-defined their cadences and arrangements. . The Technician bridged the Company’s equipment with that of the Alchemist. The Communicator solved signal transfer errors. The Quartermaster tinkered with the sequence arrangement. The Centurion tested the percussive measures. The Strategist peered through the scopes and analyzed trends and directions. They worked tirelessly on their vision.
