Theaters United Against Extinction- A Public Forum

The Theater community Lead by Woodie King Jr. and Emmitt Thrower in conjunction with ArtistMagnet.com and Wabi Sabi Productions Inc are coming together with a online Forum to discuss the survival of small Off Bway and Off Off Bway theaters.This coming together of NY and LA Venues and Producers is to discuss the issues affecting their continued survival during these tough economic times.
Funding sources are not as robust as they once were.
Less funds are being made available to smaller theaters.
Communities and the Arts communities are suffering because of the closing of theaters in their local neighborhoods.
Producing affordable theater for the community is increasingly difficult to do because of the cost associated with space for rehearsals and performances.
Un-used performance spaces are available in community centers, churches, senior centers etc and are a prime place to collaborate with the locations for space in exchange for Free performances or other arrangements.

Politicians, Cultural Affairs and Local businesses need to become more involved in the survival of these community theaters particularly Black Businesses.

They will discuss these issues and more in a Live Forum.
The group will create a petition that reflects their concerns. This petition will be circulated throughout the theater community for support and then delivered to Politicians, Business Representatives, Cultural Affairs, Parks Dept and other targeted organizations who are in a position to help resolve some of those issues.
This effort is being initiated by Artist Magnet and Wabi Sabi Production headed by Emmitt Thrower.
By the end of the show we hope to have the frame work for the petition that will be drawn up.Join us with your thoughts and concerns about these and more issues.
