Van Hale sees himself in the role of Bruce Metzger regarding Mormonism: that of raising the intellect of the poor benighted driveling masses who believe the gospel. These are antichrists who teach unbelief. "The following pages are the result of many months of reflection and conviction that something should be written to strengthen the faith of some weak members of the Church, and our students in the public schools and colleges, who are constantly exposed to the theories of organic evolution and the higher criticism, so-called.
