Roz Myers at the Intersection of Environmental Justice and Creating Garden's.

    in Visual Arts

The Capital Region Creative Corps program seeks to promote Tactical Urbanism Art in Placemaking through a media outreach and engagement campaign. The Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum will focus on Social Justice and Community Engagement as part of this initiative. The primary objectives of the Capital Region Creative Corps Program are to create an economic and workforce development program and demonstrate how artists from multiple disciplines can play a crucial role in developing and implementing critical campaigns to address the most pressing community issues.
Roz Myers introduces her "Sankofa 2020:Afri-Hood, Queen Amina's 100 Gardens" and her zest for installing one hundred gardens in communities across Sacramento, California, and as far away as Cuba.
"Sankofa 2020:Afri-Hood provides exciting and engaging learning opportunities by implementing aquaponics programs in schools, institutions, and communities in need. She is also the author of the Blacks in Agriculture History Story Walk and was a presenter during the Environmental Justice session during the 2024 Black Heritage Festival.
The Story Walk was installed in the courtyard at Florin Square for festival goers to read as they walk by, and also at the 5K Fun Run Walk at Sam Pannell Community Center. With her Blacks in Agriculture History Story Walk, she themed it as We left our "living food" in the South for the "living wages" in the North with the advances of refrigeration technology.
Her call to action goal for this project is to create a demonstration project that shows how to garden vertically and in small spaces. Join us for Earth Day on April 13th, 2024, at Florin Square.

So Let's Talk About The Pink Canary

    in Books

There are bodies piling up in Key West…. Serial Killer? The bodies showing up outside a famous drag bar….is that a clue or a coincidence? A book that delves into the Life of a Drag Queen and a marvelous “Who done it?” Clever! Let’s go into their world of Mascara and Stiletto Heels and observe. Who could be killing all these gay men and why? Yvonne Mason is the master, or mistress, of mystery in this rip roaring, fishnet stocking twisiting comedy mystery tale. This story could very well could have really happened as Yvonne Mason connects this story with some undisputed truth and history of NYC underworld and the “World Famous 82 Club”… it just might have happened, see for yourself…. Does the detective has a love/hate relationship with the Drag Queen or is it a lot less Hate and more Love than admitted? Exciting and Hilarious! Who will be next on the list of murder? The story is as seen through the main character’s eyes and what eyes they are! Lou the mild mannered detective by day and Lola a FABULOUS drag queen by night who can get into all kinds of trouble!! How her friends try to help her find the killer and catch the monster behind these unspeakable murders.I have been a Drag Queen for over 40 years and this is the first time I have been asked to collaborate on a book. Drag Queens are my speciality and I have worked in Cabaret shows since 1968 as well as extensively in Musical Theater, Television, Radio and Films. I really was excited and honored to help with the book and this book was an ultimate thrill for me.Thanks toYvonne Mason for her faith in me, and for having the insight to choose me to help her navigate this drag queen world. Thanks to Peter for his energy and Marvolous Wit…We will always be connected with this superb Book! Vicky Lane

Rain: Whispers on the Wind -- Write Stuff -- 4/1/2024

    in Books

He is destined to be high priest—but at what cost to those he loves??
In ancient Samaria, Aban anticipates his rites of passage with excitement and dread. He yearns to join the priesthood of Ba’al Melqart, unlock the power of the rain god, and hear the deity’s voice. He’s been warned the licentious ceremony can take a dangerous turn, but as eldest son of the high priestess, he holds a privileged position. If he can make it through the ceremony, one day he’ll rise to high priest.
On the eve of the rituals, Aban’s mother confesses a dark secret about the bloody sacrifice demanded by Melqart. Aban may have escaped the flames, but if he is to save his brother, Aban must take his destined position of power as soon as possible.
When the mysterious prophet Elijah interrupts the rites, overturns the idol, and curses the land with drought, Aban’s world is shaken. The current high priest and the king appear powerless, but even more confusing is the fact that the rain god does nothing.
Against his better judgment, Aban conceals the strange prophet’s whereabouts, forfeiting the high priesthood. Now an enemy of the relentless Queen Jezebel, Aban has little time to question his fading commitment to Ba’al Melqart as he and his loved ones flee. But the conflict in Samaria is much larger than just a high priestess and her sons. Soon, Aban will have to choose a side in Yahweh’s war against the Ba’als—and it may cost him his life.

He began his career writing stories for True Detective magazine and the iconic “Nick Carter” series while working as a deputy sheriff transporting federal prisoners. Ron Felber is a graduate of Georgetown University, Loyola University, and Drew University where he earned his Doctorate. He began his career writing stories for True Detective magazine and the iconic “Nick Carter” series while working as a deputy sheriff transporting federal prisoners.
Best Selling Author Ron joins Stargate Radio to discuss his upcoming novel, THE UNWELCOMED, available in May.  He brought us the true story of alien abduction with Mojave Incident, and now he brings us a novel based on the true story of demonic possession, a story gifted to him on demonic possession by William Peter Blatty while he filmed The Exorcist in 1971 at Georgetown University.  Is evil a metaphor for the bad things people do or does it prowl the earth like a living, breathing entity that possesses the souls of vulnerable humans? The Unwelcomed begins with the arrival of a young Radcliffe student at the office of renowned psychotherapist, Dr. Morton Prince. Pursued by a city marshal hellbent on solving the murder of two infants strangled by her father, Clara Fowler relives the nightmare that was her childhood—exalted by Visitations from Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin, cursed by the emergence of a demonic presence obsessed with her demise.  Ron's Website
The Unwelcomed should be read with an open mind and all the lights on in the house.”  -George Noory, Coast-to-Coast AM
