  • What Does God Think About That?

    in Books

Christianity today can be confusing. There are so many churches and it's difficult to know which one to go to, what each one believes and how to choose a church that is a true Bible-believing church that will teach only what God says.
There are many churches that do not teach exactly what the Bible tells us. There are churches that teach the Quaran and the Bible are the same and call this belief "Chrislam", this is wrong and a lie from the devil. Some churches teach that when you die there is no hell and that everyone goes to "Paradise", this is not true either. Some churches teach that "once saved, always saved", this is also a lie. Others teach that all roads lead to Heaven, but that is a false teaching as well. Only Jesus can lead you to Heaven. Some churches are called "mega-churches" because they have thousands of members and they teach only the "happy" things, or "feel good" sermons that don't tell the members that there are consequences for our actions after we die. There are even some who believe there is no God and when we die, that is the end and there is nothing more. Don't let any of these false beliefs leave you standing before almighty God and His Son, Jesus, to explain your life or why you didn't answer the call of the Holy Spirit to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior.
The Bible is very clear about salvation, Heaven & Hell; don't let false teachings rob you of your salvation, or lead you to believe that there is no Hell. Our spirits leave our bodies after death and we have to answer to God and account for our lives on earth - if you stand before God today, what will you say?
If you have questions you'd like to have answered live on the air, please send an email to marieontheradio@gmail.com.
    In Christ,

    in Books

On this episode of SWAG Radio Yara Kaleemah will be hosting an exclusive interview with Philly's own Wali Akindele, author of the 15th District and owner of Prolific Concepts.
Wali Akindele was born and raised in North Philadelphia’s Nicetown/Tioga section where he quickly learned dedication and perseverance. Fast forward to 2011 when he received a yellow envelope from the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, inside was an untitled, unfinished manuscript sent by his close friend and now label mate Andrew Jones, who shortly after received a life imprisonment sentence. Wali believed in this untitled work of art so much that he read the unfinished novel three times. Finally mustering up the nerve to put his pen to the paper he completed the manuscript and named it “15th District Chronicles of the 19124.” After receiving accolade for his first attempt at writing he penned two more features, a short story called “Tha Choice is Urs….Memoirs of The Block,” the first edition of “Tha Choice is Urs” series, and “Milligrams A Philadelphia Epidemic.” Out of his love for literature and his new found love for writing Wali Akindele, and his wife Ilene Akindele founded Prolific Concept Productions. Merging his old indoctrination of the hustle, and his entrepreneurial spirit Wali strives to make Prolific Concept Productions the publishing company of the future.
Book title: "15th District Chronicles of the 19124"

Andrew Scott is a native of Fredericton, NB. Andrew started writing as a way to communicate and cleanse his feelings. The poems written are based on all five senses of emotion. They are stories of him and others, based loosely on conversations and observations.
These are brought to him by visions in his mind and relating to his characters as they were real people. Once they are thought of, these people come to life as their story is told. The reader can relate as these are emotions based on everyday life.

  • Books of Excellence with Author Bonnie Kaye

    in Books

Tonight Bonnie Kaye welcomes author Louis Hatchett, whose literary talents include a biography of Duncan Hines whom we all know as the "cake man." Louis certainly has compiled a book that talks about Mr. Hines and all of the many things he did besides make cakes! He is also involved in the Dime Store Novels, which were mass-produced, paper-covered booklets (as opposed to hard-cover books) that flourished between 1860 and 1915. Dime novels kept appearing on newsstands until at least 1929, but the original productions ceased after 1915, put out of business by a combination of factors, including a change in postal regulations and competition from fiction in magazines printed on a better grade of paper (“the slicks”). In addition, Louis has also done discographies for Al Jolson, Fred Astaire, and Dick Powell.
This show is a program for independent authors. It was created for the authors in the Books of Excellence Coop found at www.BooksofExcellence.com; however the show welcomes independent authors and entertainers as time permits

  • The Kerri Edelman Show presents Film Director Catherine Brabec

    in Film

A Life Outside, directed by Catherine Brabec, is the story of the relationships of six New Jersey surfers: Greg Mesanko, Chris Mesanko, Kevin Casey, Jim Purpuri, Richard Luthringer, and Bucky Walters, who got on a surfboard for the first time close to 50 years ago and haven’t stopped their pursuit of surf to this day. As the surf boom took hold in the 60's, Casino Pier was not only one of the best surf spots on the east coast, it was also one of the most competitive and closely guarded by the locals. The Pier has been an icon for decades and is now all but destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. This is the story of these surfers and the Pier- then and now. Surfing the Pier was a privilege earned, a territory fiercely protected. You didn’t just own a board and paddle out, you had to be invited and then show quickly that you were good enough to be allowed in. So while surfing was a connection, friendships were complicated by the fierce competition in the water. Out of the water, surf shops were the gathering spot, the clubhouse, and Grog’s Surf Palace in Seaside Park was the mecca of the east coast. His shop created an intersection of surfers from around the world as surf culture and industry began to build. A Life Outside weaves their stories along side the lives of the NJ men, exposing that regardless of fame or monetary rewards - at the core is the same unrestrained passion and single focus to surf. Today, close to 50 years later, all these guys are still surfing. In October 2012, we filmed a surf trip in Baja MX with the NJ crew. Corky Carroll, Mike Doyal and Mickey Munoz joined us for an amazing week. Then, just 3 weeks after returning home to NJ, Hurricane Sandy hit. Towns, homes, and the Casino Pier were destroyed. The lives of our NJ crew forever changed. To preview the trailer, visit https://vimeo.com/8490024

About Art

As Sondheim wrote, "Art isn't easy," but listening to people across the globe talk about it is! Our selection of shows that fall under the art umbrella is unparalleled, because we've got the world's most beloved authors, most talked-about actors and truly groundbreaking artists discussing their work, their influences and the creative process. On any given day, join in conversation with bestselling novelists, with museum curators on major fine art exhibits, with directors and writers whose films are the talk of Sundance or Cannes, with newsmakers whose latest works are changing the face of photography, mixed media or interior design. Spoken word is also voiced here, and other forms of poetry, as are journaling, crafts and more. Yes, BlogTalkRadio is bursting with self-expression; so if you've got a creative passion you'd like to share with the world, why not host your own show? We'll have you know, that part is easy.
