    How to Hook your Audience?

    in Performing Arts

Kathleen Ann Thompson, artisitic director of Belleherst Productions, gleans from her 25 year  experience in directing and producing award winning shows for Belleherst by opening up the discussion of 'fixed point' and its relevance to clarity on the stage.
Lack of clarity on the stage opens a pandora's box of audience responses...none of which are positive if we want our production to succeed. An audience which isn't clear about the production's action, thought content or character development begins to tune out, doubt their own theatrical sophistication, become distracted trying to figure everything out or fights a growing level of frustration.   At its very minimal effect, lack of clarity on the stage speaks to the audience of mediocrity and a lack of skill. They simply disengage. Clarity is a necessary virtue on the stage even if the message of the production is to create a paradoxical and ambiguous challege to the viewer's thinking. Its a prestigious mark of excellence.
Fixed Point is an over-arching theatrical principal whose use is ubiquitous in all genres of theatre and in various developmental areas of dramatic composition. Fixed Point is the technique which most influences clarity on the stage.  Kathleen Ann Thompson takes on this little mentioned theatrical technique and exposes the harmful results of being ignorant of its value or of lacking knowlege of how to apply it.

    The Colony

    in Books

A colony of extraterrestrial migrants arrives on Earth hoping to integrate into society. However, upon discovering that the new arrivals are acctually alien-human hybrids, the people of Planet Earth start to have second thoughts about welcoming 200,000 off-world migrants. Worse still is the fact that the alien colony ship hoveing in space above Earth carries secrets within it which are as difficult to comprehend for humankind, as it is for the extraterrestrial travellers themselves. The alien colonists have no memory of life before the ship, but they will discover a shocking truth about just how closely related to the inhabitants of Earth they all are. This revelation leads to confusion, chaos and fighting which threatens to destroy their hopes of assimilating. In the first book of the series, Arrival, colonist Mikal, and his love, Arianna, are thrust into the center of a major revelation about the true origins of their people, a bombshell that won’t be the last.

About Art

As Sondheim wrote, "Art isn't easy," but listening to people across the globe talk about it is! Our selection of shows that fall under the art umbrella is unparalleled, because we've got the world's most beloved authors, most talked-about actors and truly groundbreaking artists discussing their work, their influences and the creative process. On any given day, join in conversation with bestselling novelists, with museum curators on major fine art exhibits, with directors and writers whose films are the talk of Sundance or Cannes, with newsmakers whose latest works are changing the face of photography, mixed media or interior design. Spoken word is also voiced here, and other forms of poetry, as are journaling, crafts and more. Yes, BlogTalkRadio is bursting with self-expression; so if you've got a creative passion you'd like to share with the world, why not host your own show? We'll have you know, that part is easy.
