Ms. Kim Day, Chief of Science at the Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA), and Dr. Marc Mossburg, Chief of Curriculum at DoDEA, will discuss the critical factors that help students achieve in science: high quality science curricula, competent and knowledgeable teachers who can integrate instruction with assessment, education policies that enhance and support learning, classrooms with ready access to technology, and a commitment to both equity and excellence. They will also discuss the DoDEA Science Program, which offers courses for students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve, including 19 specific secondary science courses offered in traditional and virtual classrooms. It’s great to hear that you've placed such an emphasis on mathematics and science in the DoDEA curriculum. I am an Army officer and can directly relate my mathematics and science education to my ability to think critically and problem solve. I believe that these two qualities form the centerpiece for successful Army officership.
