Wow, I don't get to hear you each day but today I listened to your 12/14th broadcast and it was filled with so much meat!! Thank you for taking your time to share your knowledge and insights to the word! I can't get enough of your teachings. As a newcomer to your site, I am not sure what your definition is of modalism. Would you give a very brief explanation of what this word means as you begin each program, for those who are new and tune in? God bless and get well!

Churchianity can best be defined as “Consensus Christianity.” It is that phenomenon by which church dogma becomes more important than Christian doctrine solely because the majority says so. It is that point of theological violation where attitudes of arrogance, rather than exhaustive study and sound biblical exegesis becomes the determining factor for what truth really is; all of this taking place over the quiet objections of those who are unlearned yet reasonably sense that something is terribly wrong with this behavior, and to the benefit of those learned enough to reasonably know better than to participate in this activity. My intentions by means of this series, is to expose these unfruitful works of darkness for what they really are; vain traditions of men by which the Word of God is both diluted and/or discarded as the canon of Christian service, and by which proponents of Churchianity in leadership rob God of his people in order to make servants for themselves. As always, it is not my intention to injure, but to inform. I don't seek controversy, but correction. Controversy for the sake of controversy is sin. But controversy for the sake of truth is a divine mandate.

ARC Fact Sheet -"SOUL SLEEP" (Show #5 - 3/19/07)
______________________________________________________
Passages used to Refute Soul Sleep:
1. Luke 16:19-31. This passage illustrates Paradise and its two compartments, and is used by those in opposition to show consciousness after death.
There is an ongoing debate as to whether the events of this passage are metaphorical.
Even if real, Paradise had two compartments, one of which was emptied at the ascension. The other would be emptied at the second resurrection in Revelations 20.
It is a general consensus that no one else was sent here after the resurrection.
2. II Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23. These passages are used to prove that Paul believed that after death, he would immediately be in the presence of the Lord.
II Corinthians 5 is always intentionally misquoted to make the intended point.
Paul’s assertions can only be taken as a statement of desire, which is obvious when the verse is properly quoted.
It is a far different statement to say “To not be at work is to be at home,” and “I prefer to not be at work, but would rather be at home.” Or how about; “To not be poor is to be rich,” as opposed to “I’ prefer not to be poor, but would rather be rich.”
There were things that Apostles and Prophets just didn’t know. (I Corinthians 13:9-12; I Peter 1:10-12)
3. I Thessalonians 4:14. This verse is used to show the location of those who have died before the Rapture. If God will bring them “with Him (Christ) when he comes back, then they must be with him at death.
God bringing those who have died with Christ refers to from death in context. The Rapture portion of this verse hasn’t even yet been addressed.
The location of those who have died in Christ is in the grave in this passage. In fact, the whole point being made is that those alive won’t “precede those who have died before them in going to Christ. (verse 15) They will rise from the grave first, (not come back to the grave for their bodies), then those alive will rise “together” with them to “meet” the Lord. (verses 16 & 17)
4. Revelations 20:4? Again, used to show consciousness after death.
The language used here is metaphorical. As a matter of hermeneutical principle, doctrine should never be built on historical narrative or apocalyptic literature.

Passages that Support Soul Sleep:
1. Daniel 12:1-2. “Those who Sleep in the Dust of The earth shall awake.”
The location of those “sleeping” is clear in this passage.
This passage clearly indicates two resurrections.
2. John 5:28-29. “All who are in the Grave will hear His Voice and come forth.”
The location of those who are “in the graves” is clear in this passage.
This passage also clearly illustrates two resurrections.
3. I Thessalonians 4:14. “The death in Christ will rise First,” at Christ’s voice.
The location of those who will “rise first” is clear in this passage.
The intent of this text is to show that just as The Father raised Christ from the dead, so also will he resurrect all who “sleep’ in Christ also.
It also indicates that they won’t precede those “who are alive and remain,” nor will they be preceded by “those who are alive and remain. Both shall rise “together” to “meet the Lord in the air.”
This is the first resurrection.
4. Revelations 20:11-15. “The Sea gave up the Dead who were in it.”
The sea gave up its dead, death (the grave personified) gave up its dead, those still held in the sheol (hades) section of were also resurrected
General issues Concerning Soul Sleep:
5. In my estimation, those who reject this doctrine do it solely for emotion reasons.
No one wants to think of their loved ones in the grave.
All supporting evidence used by those in opposition is purely circumstantial.
Interpretation of what the reader thinks Paul meant takes priority over what he said.
