"POLITICAL THEOLOGY and the Rules of Entanglement"

 

 

 

With the birth of the Religious Right and the advent of the Moral Majority in the latter part of last century, many well-meaning Christians, convinced that America is God’s Country, have become de facto adherents to this teaching, known as “Dominion Theology.” This belief system asserts that since the first coming of Christ the believer has had dominion over every area of life both spiritually and secularly. Therefore it is God’s will and their right and responsibility to bring worldly governments and every area of secular life into submission to this “Christian” dominion. 

 

Using my forthcoming ARC Perspective of the same name, I intend to address this phenomenon that, although it isn’t seen as such, is as destructive to the Body of Christ as any cultic and/or heretical teaching that is presented in the marketplace of ideas as Christian truth today. This error is the attempt by many in the Christian community to accomplish what they have misinterpreted as being the cause of Christ by means of the political process.
