    Tithing

     

      TITHING DEFINED:

       

      1. While the word "tithe" means "A 10th," There is a difference between giving a tithe and tithing.
        1. Choosing to give a tenth is a freewill decision.
        2. Tithing is a practice mandated by the Law.

       

      THE HISTORY OF THE TITHE:

       

      1. While both Abraham and his grandson Jacob gave or promised a tenth, neither of these models represents tithing as mandated under the Law, nor how it is being misused today in The Church.

       

      1. Abraham gave a tenth of what had been taken from Sodom after reacquiring it in war. The remaining 90% went back to Sodom. (Gen 14:14-24)
      2. Jacob promised to give a tenth of what he had after God would do a number of things for him first. (Gen 28:18-22)
      3. Tithing today is used as a fund raiser to guarantee income for church use, (or abuse).

       

      THE METHOD OF TITHING:

       

      1. God received the last 10% as a tithe, not the first. (Lev 27:30-34)
        1. Tithes were always crop or cattle. (Deut 14:22-23)
        2. It was only allowed to be converted to money for long journey. (Deut 14:24-26)
        3. Every 3rd year a tithe was taken for the poor. (Deut 14:27-29)

       

      THE END OF THE TITHE:

       

      1. The mandate to tithe ended with the end of the Dispensation of Law.

       

      1. No Christian is mandated to tithe today. (Rom 6:14, 10:4)
      2. There is no curse for not tithing. (Gal 3:11-13)
      3. It frustrates the grace of God when you tithe. (Gal 2:17-21)

       

      THE MISUSE OF THE TITHE:

       

      1. In spite of all biblical evidence to the contrary, churches continue to coerce the tithe from congregants.

       

      1. Malachi 3 and it's curse is read repeatedly to coerce a dime of every dollar to the church organization.
      2. The Church organism (ekklesia - "called out ones") is exploited (misused) primarily as a theologically untrained funding source. (II Pet 2:2-3)
      3. Churches (organizations) then use these funds to leverage financing from banks in order to construct elaborate monuments to men under the ruse of building God a house.
      4. This results in God being robbed of a trained church (organism)  by which to build his true house. (Eph 2:19-22)

       

      THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TITHE:

       

      1. New Testament giving -  

       

      1. By choice with no external compulsion. (II Cor 9:7)
      2. Is the result of first having a willing mind. (II Cor 8:10-12)
      3. Is meant to ensure sustenance for the saints. (II Cor 9:10-12)
