The 8a Program is a Small Business Administration program which provides assistance to economically and socially disadvantaged business owners.  It originated out of Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act - hence its name.  It provides participants with access to a variety of business development services, including the opportunity to receive federal contracts on a sole-source or limited competition basis.  The program has been an important one for thousands of minority entrepreneurs. Benefits 10% Cost advantage on competitive bids. $4.0 Million (up to per contract) Sole Source Set-aside contracts for Goods and Services $6.5 Million (up to per contract) Sole Source Set-aside contracts for Manufacturing Past firms that have been aggressive in the 8a program have gone from under $1MM to over $100MM in annual Revenue during their nine years of certification.
