The traditions and culture of the Old South has always mesmerized people. Our attraction with the Old South has been romanticized, fantasized written and re-written. Human Property Hanging in the Family Tree Yields a Harvest is an anthology of ancestral stories that presents a fresh perspective on this timeless subject. Come on and go with Ann Lee to the Old South, as she rewinds time, in this true account of her, 3rd great-grandmother a slave named.
Mariah was eye-witness to a brutal slave massacre. She wanted the world to know about the brutality of slavery. After the Civil War, the journey of Mariah’s departure to transcend from human property to a human being was met with opposition as she and her family channeled through the violent Reconstruction Era. The matriarch of her family, Mariah, was unwavering as she attempted to sail through the iniquitous institution of inequality. She defended her property against the Ku Klux Klan. She had seen the lynching of several people within her family circle. Despite the violence, she told her children to believe in God and that they could accomplish anything, regardless of the color of their skin. She remained steadfast in her hope of attaining the American dream. Please join host Antoinette Harrell and her special guest author Ann Lee.
