How many realize the United Nations has designated 2011 as the International Year of People of African Descent?

The objectives outlined in the resolution include helping people of African descent to enjoy the full measure of economic, cultural, social, civil, and political rights and full participation in society.  Also included is promoting a greater knowledge of the heritage and culture of people of African descent and the eradication of racism.

If you are just finding out, half the year is over so far. How will you commemorate the rest of the year?

See  2011: UN's International Year of People of African Descent  and International Year of People of African Descent to learn more.

Join our hosts, Antoinette Harrell and Robin Foster as we discuss how we will commemorate this year.
