Traditional research studies focused on mother child relationships as the most important relationship. It is proven everyday in our society that the relationship between a father and their children just as important. The impact that a father has on a child begin when that child in the infant stage. According U.S. Census Bureau from 1930 to 1870, many African American families were headed by fathers in the household. 2010 over 60 percent of the households today are headed by women.
