We came from one room schoolhouses and emerged great. What are we doing wrong  now with massive structures, hosts of teachers, and the best technology and so many of our children performing so far beneath their potential?

First of all, we have released our responsibility for educating our children to other people. Too many of us do not introduce basic life skills, and beginning rudiments of reading and mathematics before the child enters school.

In the one room schoolhouse, the teacher was related to the student and active in the community and church. There was a vested interest beyond the call of duty. What in that building was love, determination, a lot of ambition, the community, and the best outlook for each child.  The community often supported the teacher with room and food.

The village helped to insure success. It was the village that has been dissolved. What can we do now to turn the table back?  We need to look back and recapture the best that the past had to offer. Its the past that shapes the present and the present that shapes the future.

Join Hosts Antoinette Harrell and Robin Foster as we discuss what needs to be done to help our youth to be in a better position to become our future leaders.
