Tatooing, first began to be practiced as early as 3300 BC.  The first introduction to tatooing was between  when Captain James Cook and his men returned home to Europe from their voyages to Polynesia in 1779. "They told tales of the 'tattooed savages' they had seen. The word "tattoo" itself comes from the Tahitian tatau, and was introduced into the English language by Cook's expedition." See History of Tatooing.

People with tattoos are nine times more likely to be infected with hepatitis C according
to a recent study by Robert Haley, MD, Chief of Epidemiology at the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.  See Tatoos:  Hidden Dangers.

This can lead to liver disease and liver cancer. Our ancestors were branded as slaves.  Why are today's youth tatooing their bodies?  Join our Hosts, Antoinette Harrell and Robin Foster, as we discuss the great prevalence of tatooing and it's hidden dangers.
