Have you read any accounts or considered what our ancestor's life was like in the slave dwelling?   Many people today travel to tour the planation house or big house where the slave owner lived.  They marvel at its history and furnishings, but have you considered that without the slave dwelling there would be no big house?

Our ancestors had to tend to the demands of the slave owning family while at the same time work out a meager existence for themselves.  The slaves established a separate economy unto themselves right from their home, sewing clothes, rearing children, preparing meals, and find finding some sense of solace.

Join Hosts, Antoinette Harrell and Robin Foster,  as we learn about  our ancestors and their lives and the lives they lived in these dwellings.  What materials went into the building?  What was the structure like inside?
