84-Writer/Artist or Artist/Writer or Words/Images

introducing her new book, Dances in Two Worlds: A Writer-Artist's Backstory. Sharing the story of how, from the beginning, she has pursued writing and the visual arts simultaneously.
When working in photography, it is true that the visual images illustrated the writing, although in photography, at first the writing explained the pictures--although that is not what motivated Niela to pick up the tape-recorder and, subsequently, the pen.
Painting came later, when she wanted to immerse herself in color, but the painting and writing have always been separate processes. In Niela's book the writing does not describe the painting and the visual images do not illustrate the text. Niela will elaborate on the nature of the relationship between the two parallel narratives. In addition to touching on what motivated her to write and pursue the visual arts and how they relate to each other, We will also be talking about the role of intuition, trust, and risk-taking in the creative process.
