Regardless of where you are now in life or what you are doing or all the many roles you may have acquired, it does not mean you cannot explore who you are now. You may wonder, how will I do that with all I have going on in my life now?
Just because you may want to explore options now, does not mean you have to jump and take an action today that is overwhelming. Since action is important though to be making change you again ca take baby steps. Here are some steps you can do that will be easy to put into action:
1) Get in a quiet space in yourself and try and remember what you always played as make believe when you were a kid. An example here, no laughing now, lol, I used to make believe I was a nun. As a kid and growing up Catholic it was my only reference at the time to a spiritual teacher. I also used to play make believe with a friend that I was doing majik with flowers and herbs out of the garden. If we look at my passion as my work, I am a spiritual teacher and I teach about the alchemy in life and how to live your life like Majik. (You kind of get the idea?) 2) Think of things you loved to do as a child or teenager, such as: sing with a hair brush as your microphone, draw, write stories, play in the garden, or make crafts ect. 3) Remember things you got passionate about in Jr High and High School, such as: Maybe you joined different clubs, or environmental group, business groups, photography ect. Focus on the ones you really felt jazzed about not just the ones you tried and later found out you were not as interested as you thought you would be. 4) Then look back at things you watched on TV or heard about and you remember getting a rise inside yourself. You may have never tried them, but at the moment you heard about them you felt an interest and had a feeling inside that was excitement. 5) Write down things you always wanted to do in this life but never had a chance to do them yet. All of these things I just mentioned here are keys to saying what is part of who you really are inside. As children and young adults we tend to dream more without feeling we cannot accomplish these things. We lose this notion as we get caught up in our everyday life that calls us to just make the day function. Once you remember them and list them down, you may see a theme happening to point who you are inside. Then you can focus on this list and just allow yourself to have feelings as you do. Just sit with these feelings every day for a week. After the week is up, you can then maybe take the list and think of all the things in the world you can do with these passions. Most important do not limit what that is or try and condense it into just one thing, allow it to be as limitless as possible. I will share one with you that was for me: I am really good with kids, I love majik as seeing majik in all things in daily life, I love helping people find their true selves, I love horses, and I love transpersonal psychology, studying religions, reading, writing, and many more but let us start with these. These were all things I always like as a child and young adult. I married young at 14, had my first child at 17 and from that day on became a military wife and mother of 7 beautiful children. Over the years I had forgot about all these things I always loved. In my late 20, s I saw an add to work with kids for physical therapy on horseback. I did this for 2 years and while I was doing this I studied with Shamans and studied many spiritual and religious beliefs in my spare time. I also read and took night classes off and on for years on humanities, psychology and so forth. All things that were my interests. Eventually I saw how to take all of these things that were part of who I really am inside and utilize them all and create my company and my coaching and workshops. I now do what I love in life and I am doing all of who I really am. It did not happen over night though. As I was raising children and being a working wife and mother, I worked in a little at a time, baby steps. I worked in one class a week at Jr College, when I finished one, I added another, and another until I had been all along doing tings I loved and were n interest to me and then one day being able to put them all together to do my work. It all starts with baby steps though. So this week is to not only focus on what excites or inspires you but also walk down memory lane and find ones you may have forgotten about.
