Tune in to go back and history to Westmoreland County Virginia. Westmoreland was the County of Presidents, including George Washington and James Monroe. You will be enthraled by the story of Mary (born 1730, Westmoreland County VA), and her daugher Patty (born 1750, Westmoreland County Virginia).  Mary was the daughter of another Mary (born 1710), who was a Mulatto, and in a marriage to a white man, William Monroe Junior. Her mother was a white woman Lydia Hilliard (born 1690, Westmoreland County Virginia), who was a white woman and a servant to William Monroe Senior. Lydia Hilliard bore a child by a negro man (Mary Monroe), who was indentured to William Monroe Senior for thirty years.

Thus begins the story of Mary and Patty Bowden, and their lives at Popes Creek.

Tune in and Listen Up!

This story is dedicated to my beloved Grandson, Kerry Baxter Junior, whose life was taken on January 16, 2011. We love and miss you more than words can say.
