We take in rabbits from other shelters or animal control agencies, strays, dumps at pet stores or vet clinics, or individuals/families who can no longer care for their pets. We also visit classrooms and scout meetings to teach little ones about rabbit care. MHRR enjoys bringing our adoptable rabbits to the LSU Vet School Open House, BREC Bluebonnet Swamp, Pet Fest, Bow-Wow-Ween, and other local events. We strive to be of service to our community by offering boarding, nail trims, and answering husbandry and behavior questions to all rabbit owners. We do not have a physical shelter building to visit, we are a network of foster homes. Since our rabbits are located throughout Louisiana and southern Mississippi, the best way to meet a specific rabbit is to contact us. We have adoption days every other Saturday at the Petsmart on Millerville in Baton Rouge. We also have Care Days at the main foster home every other Sunday, opposite adoption day weekends. Dates for both are available on our website. If those times do not work for you, we can always schedule an appointment with the foster parent who has the rabbit(s) you are interested in. Since 2004, we have saved and re-homed over 700 rabbits and small animals!
