"you can't say that"

Mama said to me: "it's never what you say. It's the way you say it. People do kill over words." Mother was trying to help me. But all my ears heard was fear. And fortunately, mother brought us to our church. Where on the wall was a Tapestry that read "For God hath not given us the Spirit of Fear, but of POWER LOVE AND A SOUND MIND."

I remember meditating on those words. There were WHOLE SERMONS MISSED because my MIND couldn't hear anyAnd my voice BOOMED in my head "God has NOT given US the SPIRIT OF FEAR but OF POWER of LOVE and of a Sound Mind!"

And the very next month, after we joined and got saved and such. I joined the choir. The Children's Choir. 

We were learning a song. The words were:

God has not given us the spirit of fear
No no no no no
But the lord has given us

POWER

POWER AND LOVE
HIS JOY AND PEACE
HIS HAPPINESS
HE HAS GIVEN US A SOUND MIND
NEVER SHOULD I BE AFRAID. 

I quoted this to Mama. I told her "I have not come to be in Fear. I came to stand in Power, in Love, in a sound Mind that is Strong and Sure. Never shall I be afraid, for a thousand shall fall at my side, 10,000 shall fall at my right hand. But their evil shall not come neigh me!"

She would roll her eyes. I don't think she meant for us to take church quite so Powerfully. But it did. It had a PROFOUND IMPACT ON THE WAY I view and engage the world. 
I doas I please, I say what the fux I want. Because I am God. And as God I have the Spirit of Power of Love of a Sound Mind on my side and in my being. This is my essence breathe me in and be changed.
