David Baker was born in San Francisco, California in the 1950’s. His mother Joan was a native of England, and his father was born in San Jose, California and was part Native American Indian and Spanish. Both of his parents are now deceased and reside in the spirit world. David also has three siblings. An older sister Sue, an older brother Tony, and a younger sister, Christine.
Since David was about three years old, he remembers having visits from his deceased grandmother and other relatives and guides in spirit while playing in his crib. Growing up he would find out that he would know things about people that he could not know. Additionally, he also saw energy around them and thought he had trouble with his eyesight. David did not know at the time that he was seeing the aura, or energy field that emanates around people. Wherever he went throughout his life, he would see ghosts at many locations and spirits around people.
While David was in school at an early age, he would be not unlike other children and gather with friends to talk and tell stories. When he brought up the subject of light beings such as spirits and angels that he would see and sometimes communicate with, they found it fascinating. However, as time went on, his friends commented that he must be seeing things, or that he must be delusional. After finding out that others did not see what he did, and the fact that they thought he was crazy, he decided to keep all of those experiences to himself and never speak to anyone about them again. When he asked his mother about this subject, she said she believed and proceeded to tell him some ghost stories. That was the extent of it.
Although David’s parents, grand parents, and great grandparents on both sides of the family were mediums, they never spoke of it as the subject was taboo at the time. David was still too young to find out more information from his family due to the early passing of many of his relatives. By the time he knew that he had the gift, he had no one to discuss it with.
At the age of nine, David was staying with a friend during a summer vacation. They were playing on the beach one day when David decided to climb up a steep cliff. To make a long story short says David: “I was stuck and couldn’t get down and started crying and praying. Then something happened! I saw up in the air and in front of me, four angels staring at me. I could actually see them!
They spoke to me in my mind. They told me to turn around and climb up the cliff. They instructed me on exactly how I should accomplish this. I managed to climb up, but I was still afraid of falling when I felt what seemed to be a large hand on my back holding me up. I made it about 50 vertical feet straight up and off the cliff. When I reached safety, I turned around to thank them, they were gone. Days later I went back to the beach and assessed the cliff and my experience and noted that it would be impossible to scale that cliff without help or a rope. That’s when I knew my experience was real.”
Years later David worked various jobs and would continue to have encounters with ghosts and spirits. One day he decided to buy some books on ghosts to find out if there was anything to this. Upon reading those books and being hungry for more information, he discovered books in the same section about people who talk to the dead. These people were called “Mediums”. After research, he found out that he was psychic and also a medium too.
From that point on, David kept busy researching, which led him to go to courses to develop his abilities from different mediums such as Valerie Camozzi, John Holland, and Dr. Doreen Virtue, PhD, “the Angel Lady.”
In April of 2007 David published his first book, “The Spirit Garden, A Medium’s Journey” which tells the story of his life surrounding the journey of the discovery of his abilities and how he got to where he was at the time. The book is down to earth and in it David is candid and tells all. His life was rough, and in his early twenties after serving as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps, just a year after his honorable discharge, he ended up homeless and nearly ended it all when a spiritual vision saved him and changed his life forever.
