Dr. Linda Lehrhaupt is the Founder and Director of the Institute for Mindfulness-Based Approaches (IMA), one of the largest professional training institutes of its kind in Europe.
Linda Lehrhaupt holds a B.A. in education, a Ph.D. in Performance Studies, and has been a teacher in secondary and adult education for more than 45 years, specializing in interdisciplinary curriculum development.
In 1978 she began the practices of Tai Chi and Qigong and went on to train with some of the leading first-generation Chinese teachers in the West.
For more than 20 years, she directed innovative teacher-training programs in meditative movement. In 1979, Dr. Lehrhaupt began practising Zen meditation and received full authorization as a Zen teacher in 2012 in the White Plum lineage, founded by Taizan Maezumi Roshi.
In addition, she is certified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) from the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Since 1992, she has been leading both Zen and mindfulness retreats throughout Europe, and since 1993 she has been teaching MBSR. She has been training MBSR teachers since the founding of the IMA in 2001. With almost 35 years of experience as a teacher and supervisor in mindfulness-based approaches, Dr. Lehrhaupt has a rich background in their integration in education, health care and personal development.
