Governor Rick Perry of Texas, turned some heads with his assertion that the Theory of Evolution is "full of gaps". His detractors on the left, branded him as "anti-science", the presumption, being he rejected it in deference to the scriptural understanding of the origin of life, by God, the Creator. This brings to mind a comment that President Obama made during his inaugural address, where he decried the "assault on science".
It looks as if the 2012 Presidential race will feature the long-standing issues of religion vs. science, IF there is indeed a conflict at all.
