INTERFAITH ENGAGEMENT host Alexis Easton shares four models of personality and consciousness over the next 3 months. The first model, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt's Moral Matrix, is comprised of 6 moral foundations and provides insight into the differences among Liberals, Social Conservatives, and Libertarians.
Researchers find that Liberals incline toward novelty, variety, and diversity, whereas Conservatives are often more sensitive to signs of threat. These qualities predispose (but do not predestine) us to different political orientations. Why does Haidt concludes that Liberals overlook foundations important to a cohesive society and that Conservatives understand Liberals better than Liberals understand Conservatives?
