Guests are joining us live from Memphis, TN where the culmination of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's assassination is being held. The event has drawn notable people from across the nation, to recount the times and tactics of a man who ignited the world by putting into practice a philosophy of non violent protest that drew the eyes of the world to America's problem of racial injustice. Today's U;S. society is still steeped in racism, but the openly enforced segregation of schools, libraries, lunch counters, movie theaters, and neighborhoods no longer exists in a way that is readily identifiable. Today's racial injustice often comes in the form of the slaying of black citizens by police officers, who later claim the killings to be justifiable. Groups like "Black Lives Matter" have organized mass protest marches - but what is the target? Are we challenging an unjust law? Are we demanding a new law? Does the tactic of non-violent protest marches address and eliminate the racism of today? If not, what tactic would actually make a difference?
