Dr. McKinney, will join AM360 Special Presentations Host, Latifah Ali for the continuation of an interview conducted earlier this month. Click here for an encore of McKinney’s first appearance on the #1 Islamic Radio Station in the nation.
McKinney made history as the first African-American woman elected to represent Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she served six terms in the United States House of Representatives, before leaving the Democratic Party and running for President of the United States on the Green Party ticket in 2008.
McKinney’s father was also an elected politician and exposed his daughter early to the civil rights struggle and encouraged her to go into politics. McKinney, who earned a B.A. in international relations and an M.A. in Law and Diplomacy, and a Ph.D., along the way became a teacher, university professor, community activist and politician. Considered controversial by some and courageous by others, McKinney is on record as having voted against the 1991 Gulf War and alleging voter fraud in the 2000 presidential election.
