Join me for a special two part special “Against Their Will" the story of the North Carolina Eugenics Forced Sterilization Program. On December 8  I will present Part-1 and on December 15, Part-2 as told by one of the survivors.  Listen in as she tells her riveting story that documents one of the darkest periods in the state of North Carolina's history.  From 1929- 1977 the North Carolina Eugenics Board in conjunction with the Human Betterment League of North Carolina advocated for  and authorized the forced sterilization of over 7600 individuals before its abolition in 1977.  Of those, who fell victim to this heinous act of violence were those who the "board" deems feeble minded, mentally ill, illiterate, and abnormal and those incarcerated. These individuals were either coerced or forced unknowingly into losing their ability to reproduce sanction by the state of North Carolina.  Females and minorities accounted for an alarming 85% of the boards sterilizations and 33 states in the U.S. participated in the eugenics program with a goal of "Purifying" the human race.  Listen in and learn more about this horrific act of genocide against human rights as well as Elaine sharing the devestating affects of Depo provera and its dangerous effects on women.
