A number of factors can cause stress at holiday time. Often it is due to unrealistic expectations, taking on too much, hoping for everything to perfect. Then when it is not, there is a tendency to stress, feel poorly, overeat, fight or simply shut down. Depression is also huge at holiday time and this can also be due to increased pressure to have a happy holiday or maybe have a holiday that is unaffordable in these trying economic times. The holidays can be filled with sadness, loneliness and self-reflection.
