Natural gas is primarily used in the U.S. for electricity generation and home heating. Now it’s seen as a promising transportation fuel because it’s cheaper, domestic and has lower emissions than gasoline and diesel. Yet few stations currently sell natural gas and few vehicles can run on it. Oilman T. Boone Pickens wants natural gas to replace one-third of our oil imports in ten years. How viable is his plan? Richard Kolodziej is president of NGVAmerica, a national organization looking to expand the market for vehicles powered by natural gas or hydrogen. Todd Mittleman is the environmental and alternative fuel public relations specialist for American Honda Motor Co., which produces the Civic GX natural gas car.
