Sorry, Dunker ... but we absolutely warned EVERYONE at the TOP OF THE SHOW that there may be spoilers contained within for ANY SHOW that is broadcast already in the United States. I couldn't make that warning any clearer. If you chose to continue listening, KNOWING that "Torchwood" has aired its COMPLETE season in the United States, then I'm sorry, that was your decision.

WTF, I live in Canada and Season 2 of Torchwood has NOT aired but thanks for ruining it for me...

    Working out the kinks

Wow! I have to say, for the first time trying to do a show remotely and with a live audience ... it sure was fun!

Saturday, we did a show live from Oasis 21 in Orlando, and had a good crowd there to listen to the show that included special guest author John Scalzi. Sure, we had a few technical glitches ... including the one where I echoed for a little bit in the beginning ... but we were able to figure out a way around that, and when we do this again, we'll be armed with a BUNCH of information to make it even better.

I do hope to do a show from Comic-Con, but it likely will not be with a specific audience in front of me. I'll probably try to do it from the floor somewhere, and it likely will just be a 60-minute show where I take calls and such, and talk about what has happened at Comic-Con.

I would like to try and do this for the upcoming Necronomicon convention in Tampa. I've been invited back, and I'm pretty excited, as this is a convention I look forward to as much as I look forward to Oasis. Maybe we can set up something similar, where we can have a live studio audience. This time, we'll make sure there's a computer in the room where people can hear the show, and we'll keep all out guests on the other side of the room to make sure there is no echo.

So enjoy the show from Saturday night, and don't mind the echoes in the beginning. We really do fix them. :)

  • Original Air Date:

SyFy Radio -- Oasis 21/John Scalzi

Yes, it's Memorial Day weekend and a SATURDAY on top of that, but why not tune in to hear a special SyFy Radio direct from Oasis 21 in Orlando? If you're in town, come by Oasis (information at oasfis.org/oasis) at the Sheraton Orlando Downtown, or just listen right here! Special guests included author John Scalzi and a live audience!

  • Date / Time:

George Takei coming to SyFy Radio!

Here is the story that appeared today on SyFy Portal:

In the same show that welcomed acclaimed "Star Trek" writer David Gerrold, SyFy Radio announced Wednesday night that one of its special on-air guests in July is none other than Mr. Sulu himself, George Takei.

Fresh off his announcement that he was going to marry longtime partner Brad Altman following the California Supreme Court's action of allowing same-sex marriage in the state, Takei will join SyFy Radio and host Michael Hinman at a date yet to be determined in July to talk about "Star Trek," "Heroes" and life as an icon.

SyFy Radio started last March on BlogTalkRadio, and can be found at BlogTalkRadio.com/SyFyRadio. It's hosted by Hinman, who also is the founder and site coordinator of SyFy Portal, and president of its parent Florida corporation, The SyUniverse Group Inc.

"One of the things I made very clear to our staff here at SyFy Portal is that I wouldn't take time to do a weekly radio show like this unless we could bring in guests that would be fascinating and entertaining," Hinman said. "We've been pretty successful so far with people like Eugene Roddenberry, ['Battlestar Galactica' supervising producer] David Weddle, and especially David Gerrold this past week. Welcoming Mr. Takei on the show is icing on the cake, and we hope to continue building it even more from here."

Takei spent time as a child in World War II Japanese internment camps in the United States before growing up to become an actor. Typically relegated to stereotypical Asian roles early in his career, "Star Trek" worked to break that cycle by trying to remove stereotypes from all types of backgrounds.

Takei continues to be a prominent icon in the world of entertainment, appearing in six Star Trek movies, an episode of "Star Trek: Voyager" as captain of the U.S.S. Excelsior, and later playing Kaito Nakamura in seven episodes of the popular NBC series "Heroes."

He also is a regular contributor to the Howard Stern show, which is heard worldwide on Sirius satellite radio.

SyFy Radio airs live every Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT online at BlogTalkRadio.com/SyFyRadio. Wednesday's show with David Gerrold, which talks in detail about not only his "Trouble With Tribbles" episode, but life on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" as well as a set visit he made to "Star Trek XI," can be found on the site. It's also available in the iTunes Store as a download by typing "SyFy" in the search engine.

SyFy Radio will air a special live broadcast from the floor of Oasis 21 in Orlando this Saturday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, which could possibly include some more from Gerrold along with other special guests. Next Wednesday, the mirror universe version of Michael Hinman, who writes the occasional SyFy Portal column "Beyond the Mirror," will guest on the show. Then on June 4, regular SyFy Radio returns with special guest Kenneth Johnson from "V," "The Incredible Hulk" and "Alien Nation" fame.

  • Original Air Date:

    SyFy Radio -- David Gerrold

Join Michael Hinman and his special guest David Gerrold, the man behind one of "Star Trek's" most famous episodes, "The Trouble With Tribbles." Gerrold has a very amazing writing background including many shows, including an upcoming episode of "Star Trek: New Voyages." Talk with David Gerrold right here at SyFy Radio!

  • Date / Time:

Special contest to guess July's special guest ... TONIGHT!

Tonight while we get ready to welcome famed "Star Trek" writer David Gerrold, we'll also be revealing who our very, very, very special guest will be in July.

No, we're not going to come out and tell you. Instead, we're going to give you an opportunity to guess.

Throughout the show May 21, we'll give a clue that will be accompanied by a little sounder that we'll demonstrate on the show tonight. After our special guest, we'll give you a chance to call in with your guess at 646-200-3642, and the first person to get it right will win a special DVD prize!

You're going to love who this guest is, so make sure you tune in tonight at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. at BlogTalkRadio.com/SyFyRadio!

  • Date / Time:

    Real Radio ... :)

    Hey, everyone!

I'm very excited to have David Gerrold, the writer behind "The Trouble With Tribbles" episode of "Star Trek" on Wednesday night at 10 p.m. ET, but if you're near a computer or live in the greater Chicago area, you have a chance to hear me tonight at 1 a.m. ET/midnight CT on WGN Radio's Steve & Johnnie Show, the top-rated overnight show in Chicago.

I've appeared on the show a few times before, and I absolutely adore these two. I think that even if I'm not on, this couple is worth listening to as they are entertaining and intelligent, something you don't see out there very often in the radio world.

So we'll be talking about the cancellation of "Moonlight" and some other interesting things, so check out the WGN Radio Web site if you can't get WGN on your radio dial.

We've also confirmed our first guest for June. Kenneth Johnson, who played a key role in several major science-fiction series of the past like "V," "Alien Nation" "The Incredible Hulk" series and others, will join us June 4 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Johnson may not be a household name like Joss Whedon or J.J. Abrams, but he is a legend, and his contribution to the genre in the 1970s and 1980s is extraordinary, and we're very excited to have him on the show!
