Sorry, Dunker ... but we absolutely warned EVERYONE at the TOP OF THE SHOW that there may be spoilers contained within for ANY SHOW that is broadcast already in the United States. I couldn't make that warning any clearer. If you chose to continue listening, KNOWING that "Torchwood" has aired its COMPLETE season in the United States, then I'm sorry, that was your decision.

WTF, I live in Canada and Season 2 of Torchwood has NOT aired but thanks for ruining it for me...

Thursday's show is going to ROCK!

I know I'm a bit biased, but I have to tell you that Thursday's premiere of Alpha Waves Radio is going to ROCK!

One of the nice things about doing a show in podcast is that you can get it all done ahead of time. So the show is ready to go!

Our guest this week is Daniel Malen of TheTVAddict.com. He was the first guest on SyFy Radio way back in the beginning of 2008 (look up that show in our archives, listen to it, and then compare it to Thursday's broadcast). We talk about a lot of great things, including an awesome new promo for "Lost" that's available in Spanish only, whether or not there are political statements in "V" (and if we should really care), and all kinds of crazy things.

We also get to get our first glimpse of David Read from GateWorld.net who pretty much doesn't agree with me on anything (except that "Stargate: Universe" is pretty cool). We hit a whole gambit of topics, including why some seasons of Star Trek are a bit cheesy.

If you were a fan of SyFy Radio, or even if you never heard of it, I think Alpha Waves Radio is going to blow you away. At least give it a listen and let us know what you think.

Personally, I think the pace is much crisper, it's far more entertaining, and you'll want to come back for more. Plus the fact that it's only 60 minutes now instead of 90, you won't have to replan half your day to listen.

So come join us when we transmit the episode Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. ET right here at BlogTalkRadio.com/AlphaWaves ... and please bring your friends (like LOTS of friends). We'll have the chatroom open, so you'll be able to enjoy the show with like-minded people!

And if you want to have a comment or question shared on an upcoming show, simply leave us a voice message at (813) 321-5548 and maybe you'll hear it on a future episode of Alpha Waves Radio!

    See you Thursday!

  • Date / Time:

Now you can call in! Alpha Waves Live debuts Dec. 9!

When we made the decision to make Alpha Waves Radio a podcast format (meaning we pre-record it and put it through post-production before releasing it), we realized there was going to be one key element of the former SyFy Radio that we'd be missing: YOU!

That was one of the things I enjoyed the most when hosting the former live version of the show, bringing in calls from listeners like you, and hearing your thoughts, answering your questions, and engaging in some great conversation.

So it's a little early yet, but we're going to try a small experiment. We're calling it Alpha Waves Live, and you can find it right here on our BlogTalkRadio page. Our first episode will run Dec. 9 at 9 p.m. ET (that's a Wednesday, the night SyFy Radio used to air), and will not have any scheduled guests, nor will it be scripted.

It will simply be you and me!

So we'll see how well this works. Right now, the plans are to do Alpha Waves Live just once a month, but if it's popular enough, we might start doing it on the off-weeks of Alpha Waves Radio (that podcast is expected to run just twice a month).

How do we make it successful? Well, it's all about you. Join us for the broadcast right here at BlogTalkRadio.com/AlphaWaves on Dec. 9, and get ready to either call in and join us on the air, or if you're too shy to talk to me, join other listeners in the chatroom.

I'll have some things we can talk about, but it's more or less open mic. If there is something on your mind, as long as it relates at least somewhat to science-fiction/fantasy/horror and the like, we can talk about it. And you won't even be screened.

So join us, let your friends know, and let's fill that chatroom up and keep those phone lines packed on the night of the show. By doing that, you can help make Alpha Waves Live a regular feature!

    An Alpha Waves Retrospective

Not familiar with this show? Who the hell is Michael Hinman? Well, SyFy Radio used to be the one thing that five people on this planet looked forward to every week. And now it's back in podcast form. But what is Alpha Waves? Who is Michael Hinman? Find out in this special show! This special episode will be hosted by the venerable Nick Chase and include interview highlights from people like Jane Badler from "V," George Takei from "Star Trek" and Gil Gerard from "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century."

  • Date / Time:

Now Alpha Waves Radio is ready to return

After a failed attempt to bring it back in July, it looks like Alpha Waves Radio, the podcast version of Airlock Alpha, is finally coming back.

Hosted by Michael Hinman, a weekly podcast was once made popular as SyFy Radio before the "SyFy" brand was sold to NBC Universal.

Unlike that live show that aired on BlogTalkRadio, this new show will be produced completely as a podcast. It will continue to air through BlogTalkRadio, but can now be found at AlphaWavesRadio.com.

"I'm real excited to finally be bringing this show back," said Hinman, who is the owner and coordinator of the BlipNetwork, which includes Airlock Alpha, Rabid Doll and Inside Blip. "We had some great guests in the past like George Takei, the cast of 'Buck Rogers,' Brent Spiner and others. And with this new show in a format that works much better with my busy schedule, we hope to aim even higher with future guests."

A retrospective of some of the great guests from SyFy Radio will be released on the Web Nov. 29 at 9 p.m. ET, while the first show with guest Daniel Malen from The TV Addict will be released Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. ET, with the next show after that scheduled for Dec. 17. All shows can be found at AlphaWavesRadio.com.

There will be some changes between SyFy Radio and Alpha Waves Radio going beyond just a name change. While Hinman will return as the host, the show will stream live for each episode, but will also be available in archive podcast form immediately both at AlphaWavesRadio.com and on iTunes. Simply visit the iTunes store and do a search on "Alpha Waves."

Shows will typically be 60 minutes long, instead of the 90 minutes of past shows, and will air about twice a month, rather than on a weekly basis.

"The biggest reason for this is that it allows us to really concentrate on getting the best guests, and not just people to fill the guest slots each week, and also makes it easier for me, because there are hours of preparation that goes into each episode," Hinman said. "I simply don't have the time to do it on a weekly basis, but doing a pre-recorded show will work great, plus sound awesome."
