Sorry, Dunker ... but we absolutely warned EVERYONE at the TOP OF THE SHOW that there may be spoilers contained within for ANY SHOW that is broadcast already in the United States. I couldn't make that warning any clearer. If you chose to continue listening, KNOWING that "Torchwood" has aired its COMPLETE season in the United States, then I'm sorry, that was your decision.

WTF, I live in Canada and Season 2 of Torchwood has NOT aired but thanks for ruining it for me...

Anyway, one of the writers of that show, Ashley Edward Miller, will join Michael Hinman for the first podcast version of Alpha Waves Radio of 2010. Answering your burning questions about Alpha Waves Radio

Now that we have entered a new year, and the three of you (hi, mom!) who listen to the show are getting settled in, I thought I would waste a blog post and talk a little bit about what Alpha Waves Radio is.

We started this show back in 2008, calling it SyFy Radio. I did the show live nearly every week (and sometimes twice a week, including live shows from various conventions like San Diego Comic-Con) and we had some awesome guests on like George Takei, Gil Gerard, etc.

But doing a live show takes a long, long, long time to prep for, and with my services needed for what was then known as SyFy Portal (our main news site), I really had a lot on my plate.

So the show ended in late 2008 or early 2009, and we tried to have new hosts take over, but they were even more busy than me.

Then 2009 saw us change our name ... we went from being SyFy Portal to Airlock Alpha, and the radio show -- even in its near dormant state -- changed its name from SyFy Radio to Alpha Waves Radio.

We really wanted to bring the show back, but the time commitment was too much. Sure, I could do a monthly show, but who wants to wait a month between broadcasts? Really, every week didn't seem frequent enough.

So I settled on doing three shows a month. Two of them would be podcast format, because I simply feel they sound a LOT better than live. And to keep all of our listeners happy, we dedicate a third show each month to being live and unscripted. It's Alpha Waves Radio unplug if you will.

Believe it or not, some people prefer the live show over the podcast. Yet, there are others who like the podcast over the live show. I'm in the latter camp.

I am not very entertaining, unfortunately, and my ideas don't always work. I had a bit in our most recent show where I did a comedy homage to "2010," but people forgot it wasn't just meant to be funny, but to be endearing. Sorry!

For this coming week's show, I make fun of a movie, and make it a little more obvious this time, so I hope you enjoy it.

I find myself with some great company here at BlogTalkRadio, and many people who continue to do their shows live. You have The Two Doctors, you have SciFi Pulse, Sci-Fi Talk, Mr. Media, hell, I could go on for awhile. Some great stuff.

Anyway, this week's show, which airs Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. ET (and you can hear in archive form whenever you want either from here or on iTunes) features Bear McCreary, the celebrated composer from "Battlestar Galactica" who talks about three of his most recent works: the game "Dark Void," and the new series "Caprica" on Syfy and "Human Target" on Fox. So you don't want to miss that.

We also have scheduled (but yet to record ... guess we need to do that soon) Brent Hartinger from TheTorchOnline.com and AfterElton.com, who was recently nominated for an award by GLAAD and is just an all-around great guy and amazing writer. I've been hoping to get him on for some time, so I'm glad I finally twisted his arm to do it.

And after missing our last show (that was my fault by the way ... Ashley Edward Miller went long), GateWorld's David Read returns. So that should be a laughfest. Maybe we'll finally argue about something as we keep promising. :)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the shows, and feel free to add us as a friend and comment. We'd love to hear from you!

And don't forget to visit the site that makes all this possible, Airlock Alpha, which you can find at http://airlockalpha.com

Doctor Who Special -- Take 2

    Yaay!

We're going to try again to have our "Doctor Who" special.

It will remain a live call-in show (although we'll use our interview with Jarrod Cooper that we did Sunday night).

This time, however, the show will be Monday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. ET

If you were banned from the chatroom from the hacker, BlogTalkRadio tells me that the bans should now be lifted, so you'll be OK.

Please join us ... I know it's short notice and such, but we would love to have you a part of all this and talk about "Doctor Who"!

    Doctor Who show postponed

    Hello!

Unfortunately some jerk had to come in and hack our chatroom during tonight's Alpha Waves LIVE broadcast talking about "Doctor Who."

We don't believe they hacked into the show itself, just the chatroom, and who knows how they did it. We are trying to undo the damage right now, including a bunch of people who were banned.

Why someone felt the need to come in and mess with our show like this is unfathomable. We are simply fans who wanted to talk about something we enjoyed very much. And now a bunch of people who were in the chatroom with us cannot get back in because of what this hacker did.

Our chief technology officer, Nick Chase, as well as BlogTalkRadio is looking to try and undo the damage now, and hopefully look to better secure the chatroom, which is simply third-party software out of China. If they can fix this and secure the chatroom, we will reschedule the Doctor Who show, possibly for Monday night.

If not, we will look at other options.

We are very sorry about this, and will hopefully get this fixed right away.

Upcoming guests: Ashley Edward Miller of 'Fringe' and Bear McCreary of 'Battlestar Galactica'

    Happy New Year!

    It's 2010 ... wasn't that the name of a 1980s movie? I think it was ...

Anyway, we have three great shows scheduled for January! Our first one comes in the form of our live call-in show ... you know, Alpha Waves LIVE!.

It will air Jan. 3 at 5 p.m. ET, and will be your first chance to talk about the final two episodes of "Doctor Who" featuring David Tennant. As always, our live shows are not guest-centric, but instead dedicated to YOUR phone call! So join us live both for the show and for the chatroom as well. Did you like the finale? Did you hate it? Are you sad to see David Tennant go?

We return to our regular podcast show Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. ET with Ashley Edward Miller. If that name doesn't ring a bell, then there's something wrong with you, hahaha! He's a very good television writer currently attached to "Fringe" on Fox, but whose credits also include "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda" and others.

Should be a great show, especially as we get ready for the next episode of "Fringe!"

Also, while it's not fully confirmed yet, we're looking to have the one and only composer from shows such as "Battlestar Galactica," "Caprica," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," "Mercy" and others Bear McCreary on our Jan. 21 show, also airing at 8 p.m. ET

This guy puts on the best concerts ever, and his music is influencing composers everywhere. Hear the man himself and the beautiful sounds he has created over the years.

All of our shows, including past editions of Alpha Waves Radio, can be found at http://blogtalkradio.com/alphawaves or at http://AlphaWavesRadio.com!
