Today on Historically Speaking, we're taking a turn into history and visiting Bannack MT, the first town in the new Montana Territory.

Bannack Days: http://bannack.org/bannack-days

Easy drive, gorgeous, from the I-90 either at the Whitehall exit or Twin Bridges.

Besides the beauty of the area, Bannack visitors get to explore inside most of the buildings. You can also camp right there along a river in a state park campsite.

You'll need a full day to visit Bannack, be sure to bring a picnic! Also bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Go early to avoid the hot afternoons.

Famous story originating in Bannack is the double life of Henry Plummer, sheriff by day and leader of road bandit gangs by night!
