This Week with David Brinkley . . . well, no, he's dead, and there sure as hell ain't no George Will here. But the format remains the same. "This week" I'll be moderating a panel of past guests and new ones, and we'll be discussing the dearth of femslash fanfic out there for TV sitcoms. I've talked with authors about many dramas, and several cartoons, but only one sitcom (Facts of Life). And there's not a whole lot more out there to talk about. Are lesbians just not funny? Are we writers the not funny ones? Or is the "com" in "sitcom" creating hangups? My fellow panelists will be first-timer Bebitched, who created a Livejournal community for femslash pairings from NBC's "The Office"; "Facts of Life" guest Misty Flores; "Glee" guest Kben; and "Birds of Prey" guest Ficmail. Together we'll discuss fledgling fandoms like "The Office", "Scrubs", "Better Off Ted", and "Parks & Recreation, as well as why Jo/Blair from "Facts of Life" seems to be the only sitcom pairing from that era to gain any sort of traction with readers.
