My name is Alan Levy and I am the co-founder and CEO of BlogTalkRadio. I created BlogTalkRadio in September 2006, after setting up a blog for my father who was dying of cancer. His blog inspired me to create a medium where bloggers or anyone can use a phone to create a live streamed event which is then archived as a podcast. My show covers all types of content including interviews with top authors, business leaders, bloggers, entertainers and more. Enjoy!!

I am really excited to launch Blogtalkradio. We have all worked hard getting ready for launch, which as of now is scheduled for Tuesday July 25th.
I want to thank my partner Bob for his hard work in putting this together. I also want to thank R----, for putting together the website and backend. Finally, I want to thank Jaime Mintun, our marketing coordinator. In the short time Jaime has worked with us, she has helped us out greatly and we look forward to working with her as we begin to market the service and bring in tons of hosts
We have incorporated a blog into Blogtalkradio (BTR for short), because we wanted to give the blogger and their audience the ability to comment directly on their shows. Generally speaking, this tool will not be used as the bloggers primary blog, however, we will see that non-blogers that want to use BTR and don't maintain a blog, can use our blog as their primary blog. We will also maintain a forum, but this blogging tool will be used for the host to talk directly to their audince and get feedback on shows, follow up questions, etc..
If you have any feedback or comments, about any aspect of BTR, please don't hesitate to let me know!!
Alan

Alan, great work on this new medium! I believe this will quickly become even more popular. If I may ask a question or two: 1. Do you plan on implementing a feature that will allow a host to mix in bumper music or sound effects? (I understand the legal implications, but maybe BTR could provide royalty-free clips, or hosts could submit their own clips for approval.) 2. How long are the scheduled segments supposed to be? 3. Will listener statistics be available to the hosts? How will the 50/50 profit split be determined?
