An inspiring and informative chat with John Watkins on how to help our youth pay for their college education. John joined the Ducerus family to educate his clients with the knowledge he has learned through his successes and challenges throughout his professional career and as an undergraduate and graduate student.

John learned first-hand while attending college how ignorance in the understanding of how the application and financial aid process can cost families time and dollars.  Being unprepared to not only attend college, but navigate your way through and prepare for a career, students who prepare too late give money and opportunity to those who put time in to educate themselves on these key elements.

Professionally, John served as a Career Services Counselor for a local trade school where he assisted students and graduates find career opportunities, related to their fields of study.  It was no accident, the students who worked with their counselors the closest; listened to advice and educated themselves regarding interviewing and job searching.  They learned the rules of the game.

Similarly, applying to college and understanding financial aid is a game, John is eager to show and teach his clients how to prepare and play by the rules of the college application and financial aid game.

John lives in Greensburg with his wife and 3 children.  In his spare time he helps  coach his childrens’ soccer teams and serves as the Committee Chair for Cub Scout troop 416.
