She is an American Neo-Pagan Priestess and Witch who has been a mover and a shaker in the American Pagan community since its earliest years. She was one of the founders of the Reclaiming Collective in San Francisco in the 70’s along with Starhawk and others. She has helped shape the community’s approach to feminism, ritual, Goddess theology, the arts in sacred practice, folklore, scholarship, prison chaplaincy, and the necessity for cultural infrastructure that serves the needs of Pagans. She is a skilled and innovative ritualist and a strong voice for interfaith bridge building. She is co-author of The Pagan Book of Living and Dying. She has continued her groundbreaking work through organizations like the American Academy of Religion, the Nature Religions Scholars Network, the advisory councils of The Sacred Dying Foundation and the Pagan Elders Assistance and Resource League, and Cherry Hill Seminary.
