“What does not kill us makes us stronger” should be the motto for Helen Georgaklis. Coming from a Greek home where principals, morals and discipline were literally drilled into her—physical and emotional abuse was a daily routine for 20 years. Because this abuse was always followed by the “I’m sorry” cash apology, an unhealthy relationship between emotions and money was born and the consequences were disastrous. Helen’s story continues downward as outside her home she endured abuse, molestation and rape all before turning 18. This led her into an abusive marriage which saw her become a single mom at 25. Helen’s life had become a daily struggle of survival both mentally and physically as she was constantly haunted by a lack of money, lack of respect and lack of understanding why this was HER life—what had she done to deserve all this? Luckily Helen was born with an extraordinary sense of survival—a never give up attitude—which has given her the strength to not only survive but to become a success. While mastering her gift as a professional makeup artist, she spent hours talking with women about their lives, their dreams and what would become a calling for Helen—their financial situations. Not only were her clients struggling to make ends meet, Helen had watched her 2 grandmothers and her mom struggle financially—it was then that it became her life’s goal to erase poverty in women. And thus began a career as a successful retirement planner to thousands of women while managing millions of assets. But Helen always wondered, how can I reach more women to share my passion... how can I show people that anybody can overcome the obstacles in their lives and make a better world for themselves and those around them. From this she created the 99 Series which is the first one stop through laughter and tears, Helen jokes that she picks her 99 series topics with a purpose—says Helen “I needed every single one of these books.
