Welcome to the latest installment of The Grindhouse, courtesy of Afronerd Radio airing this Saturday at 6pm (EST). Our Grindhouse broadcast, not unlike a 70s cinematic presentation, is a "double feature" audio experience with The Comic Shoppe and Afronerd Radio airing at 6pm and 7pm, respectively.  For The Comic Shoppe, the crew uses their own "electron microscopes" to illuminate the following issues: Comic Book historian, Prof. Bill Foster joins the crew to discuss the past, present and future of Black representation in comics; Marvel Comics' print division makes history (and controversy) with switching the gender and race of Thor and Captain America, respectively; Xbox Entertainment Studios lays of 18,000 workers after announcing new TV shows in development a few months ago and lastly, our thoughts on the release of new shows (or leaks)-Constantine, Extant, The Strain, Legend of Korra. Call us live at 646-915-9620!

And batting clean up, we have Afronerd Radio airing at 7pm.  Join Dburt and Capt. Kirk as they tackle the following subjects: the MH17 Malaysian airplane tragedy and the international fallout as the investigation ensues; the Straight Out of Compton casting fiasco proves that there's minstrelsy in front and behind the camera; the Koch Brothers donate 25 million to the UNCF causing others to question their loyalty to the famed educational organization;  a Black woman creates a crowdfunding campaign seeking "White privilege"; a Staten Island father dies by police choke hold and lastly, a Black Voices piece posits that the White LGBT appropriation of Black female culture is racist (huh?).  Another must hear show!
