DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Very common within our community People don't normally talk about this because they are scared of the consequences such as stigma from family and friends and stay being isolated. This is because in Europe and America this is considered serious crime and often resulting in prison terms. Therefore people do not come forward. MY EXPERIENCE: Physical violence: Beatings for the silliest reasons or no reasons at all I got a slap and kick one week after giving birth with twins and cesarean section Emotional abuse: Often told you're no good etc. Asking to pay for almost everything in the home with my small wages. I SURVIVED AND ACHIEVED SUCCESS BY PERSEVERING I enrolled into college which gave me confidence to know I was not what he thought I was I achieved a diploma in Adult Nursing and registered as a nurse in the UK I know have a degree in Public Health and also own a magazine (Salone Style Magazine) I currently work as a Clinical Research Nurse which I am very happy in. MY MESSAGE TO WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD IS TO BELIEVE IN YOURSELVES AND LOVE YOURSELVES.NOON CAN LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU LOVE YOURSELF. Veronica Conteh will be our guest. She recently launched an African fashion, style and beauty magazine named SaLone Style Magazine which also looks into women's issues and women's empowerment. Among these issues is Violence at home. She will talk about her own experience and inform women on how to deal with violence at home. We would appreciate if you could add comments, experience or view on this discussion. You are also welcome to call during the show and contribute
